Building our ATF-approved explosives storage results in some pretty heavy designs. So we offer multiple mobility add-ons to make moving your Tread storage unit easier. From caster wheels to additional lift points, and even handle attachments.
Upgrade your magazine with an aluminum or wooden shelving for improved organization inside your magazine.
For our outdoor units, we offer a reinforced floor for increased weight capacities, as well as grounding kits to protect against potential lightning shocks.
The magazine should be inspected weekly. The Inspection should consist of:
The magazine’s location must follow the ATF’s 27 CFR Part 555.206 distance guidelines.
Magazines that weigh 4-5 thousand pounds and below can typically be delivered via lift-gates on many freight carriers’ trucks. This may exclude magazines below that weight, but with more cumbersome dimensions.
Larger magazines are typically delivered on a commercial flatbed trailer or hotshot trailer. These magazines have the size and weight to require a crane to unload the delivery truck and set the magazine. In most cases, a local commercial-truck tow company with a larger capacity wrecker can be used with less arrangement than a conventional construction crane.
Typically, an 8–10-week lead time is assigned to the order. This gives Tread the time to thoroughly weld and inspect the magazine, prime and paint the inside and outside of the magazine, line the magazine with the appropriate wood lining, and perform final assembly & inspection.
No, the magazines are fire-resistant as explained in the 27 CFR 555. This is established by the steel-welded box and non-sparking lining of the magazine design.
A Cap Box is an additional magazine that is typically smaller and attached to the main magazine. It is utilized to store blasting caps, and detonating primers and to keep them accessible, but separated from the explosives in the main magazine.
All the above terms are styles of the portable Type 3 Magazine.
A Type 2 Indoor Bullet Resistant magazine is used when the building that the magazine is stored in is not bullet resistant (i.e. a thin metal clad shed). The Type 2 Indoor B/R is designed like a Type 2 Outdoor. Where, the steel jacket is made of ¼” steel and there are 3” of hardwood lining.
